The Shape of Things to Come

19 Jul

Earlier this year I posted a list of my most anticipated albums, with blind ambition and childlike yearning. I was basing assumption on hope.

As it turns out, that list is proving true. Beach House, Keane, and Frank Ocean have all already released new albums (all of which meet and exceed expectation). Passion Pit’s ‘Gossamer’ drops next week. The XX, who were not on the list, but probably should have been, released their new single with news of an upcoming album called ‘Coexist’.

Mumford and Sons recently announced they would be releasing ‘Babel’ on September 25. Two Door Cinema Club will be releasing their follow up to Tourist History, ‘Beacon’, September 3rd.

And it seems Phoenix are still stuck in a studio somewhere. It’s all very exciting… (below is a full list of album release dates).

To tide over anticipation, here are two new tracks from a collaboration between Pnau and Elton John. It’s pretty special.

Passion Pit

I miss my dog. I can’t believe Russia won. Back to the grind.

Manners was one of my favorite albums in 2009, so anything Passion Pit related – I like to know about. All These Trees is their newest song, recorded specifically for a commercial. Hopefully that means they’re working on some new originals.

Passion Pit – All These Trees:

Passion Pit – Tonight, Tonight (Smashing Pumpkins Cover):

Part 4 of Hype Machines best-of 2010.

Clock Opera – Best of 2010 (Part 4):
