Go Wolf

27 Nov

With a feature on Kitsune’s newest compilation album (which has featured the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party, Friendly Fires and Foals) Go Wolf deserves our attention. If “buzzworthy” and “breakthrough act” are still relevant measures, the group fits the part, succeeding at making indie disco pop that is increasingly being played out and under-executed. In other words, I’m excited to see where they go next, but this is enough for now.

Summer Leaves – Playlist

19 Aug

This is my second compilation of songs guiding me through summer. If you missed the first one it’s here.

To download this playlist and some fancy artwork, DOWNLOAD HERE.

Two highlights are from the band Cheers Elephant, whose record can be downloaded by naming a price (yes, $0 is a price, if you’re into that). That’s here: cheerselephant.bandcamp.com

Below are a few songs from the playlist. Again, download here.

So yea, that’s that.

The Shape of Things to Come

19 Jul

Earlier this year I posted a list of my most anticipated albums, with blind ambition and childlike yearning. I was basing assumption on hope.

As it turns out, that list is proving true. Beach House, Keane, and Frank Ocean have all already released new albums (all of which meet and exceed expectation). Passion Pit’s ‘Gossamer’ drops next week. The XX, who were not on the list, but probably should have been, released their new single with news of an upcoming album called ‘Coexist’.

Mumford and Sons recently announced they would be releasing ‘Babel’ on September 25. Two Door Cinema Club will be releasing their follow up to Tourist History, ‘Beacon’, September 3rd.

And it seems Phoenix are still stuck in a studio somewhere. It’s all very exciting… (below is a full list of album release dates).

To tide over anticipation, here are two new tracks from a collaboration between Pnau and Elton John. It’s pretty special.

Elton John vs. Pnau – Good Morning to the Night:

Elton John vs. Pnau – Sad:

Passion Pit – Gossamer : July 24
Purity Ring – Shrines : July 24
Bloc Party – Four : August 21
Two Door Cinema Club – Beacon : September 3
Animal Collective – Centipede Hz : September 4
Stars – The North : September 4
The xx – Coexist : September 11
David Byrne and St. Vincent – Love This Giant : September 11
Ben Folds Five – The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind Out : September 18
Grizzly Bear – Shields : September 18
The Killers – Battle Born : September 18
Mumford and Sons – Babel : September 25
Sun Airway – Soft Fall : October 2
